DESCRIPTION: In this talk I will revist the geometric engineer
ing of five-dimensional supersymmetric conformal f
ield theories (SCFTs) in M-theory after Intrilliga
tor\, Morrison and Seiberg. This establishes a con
jectural bijection assigning to each local isolate
d Calabi-Yau three-fold singularity a five-dimensi
onal superconformal field theory. Focusing on the
toric case\, I will discuss applications of IIA/M-
theory fiberwise duality to characterizing the pos
sible gauge theory phases of these systems. This g
eometric setup clarifies the notion of “UV duality
” for such theories. Along the way\, I will provid
e a novel gauge theoretical expression for the 5d
prepotential\, accounting correctly for the 5d par
