DESCRIPTION:The Stokes-Darcy problem has received a growing at
tention by the mathematical community over the las
t decade not only due to its many possible applica
tions but also to its mathematical nature. Indeed\
, it is a good example of a multi-physics problem
where two different boundary value problems are co
upled into a global heterogeneous one.\nThe approx
imate solution of this problem could be obtained p
roceeding in a monolithic way using either a direc
t method or a suitably preconditioned iterative me
thod. However\, its multi-physics nature makes it
suitable to domain decomposition techniques which
allow to recover the solution of the global proble
m by iteratively solving each subproblem separatel
y. The difficulty of this approach is to guarantee
effective convergence and robustness of the itera
tions.\nIn this talk\, I will give an overview of
few domain decomposition methods for the Stokes-Da
rcy problem considering their convergence\, robust
ness and performance. I will present some numerica
l examples to show their effectiveness for practic
al applications.\n\n
