DESCRIPTION:The restriction conjecture is one of the main prob
lems in Harmonic Analysis and it has been an activ
e area of research over the last 20 years. Roughly
speaking\, this problem asks wheter the Fourier t
ransform of an $L^p(\\mathbb{R}^d)$ function can b
e restricted to a hypersurface $S$. Success on the
original conjecture has been achieved by introduc
ing its multilinear analogues and by using techniq
ues as induction on scales\, the wavepacket decomp
osition and Kakeya-type (combinatorial) estimates.
\n\nDuring these sessions we will survey the resu
lts known about the restriction conjecture and\, i
n particular\, we will discuss Tao's paper "A shar
p bilinear restriction for the paraboloids":http:/
