After a brief overview of flavour in the Standard model, and of the role
flavour historically played in its construction, I give an account of
flavour in various models of physics at the TeV scale. In the remainder
of this talk, I mainly discuss observables at LHCb of interest for the
new-physics search, their theoretical description and prospects with
early data.
