This is based on a joint work with Angeliki Menegaki. We study the non-linear BGK equation which is an equation which is simpler, but similar to the Boltzmann equation and show the existence of steady states when this equation is posed with the x variable on an interval and boundary conditions with different temperatures. We are also able to show some properties of the steady state.
