If you have a question about this talk, please contact Rachel Pengelly. The problem of computing the composition multiplicities of Verma modules for a semisimple Lie algebra was famously solved by the proof of the Kazhdan-Lusztig conjecture. In this talk, I will discuss this problem for a related class of Lie algebras, the Takiff Lie algebras. I will also discuss the BGG category O of modules for a semisimple Lie algebra and an analogue of this category for the Takiff Lie algebras.
