Superconformal Quantum Mechanics

Superconformal quantum mechanics appears in various compactifications of superconformal field theory and as a possible holographic dual to spacetimes with an AdS_2 factor. I will discuss a maximally supersymmetric conformal quantum mechanics on hyperK√§hler cones. This leads to problems due to singularities that appear on all non-trivial hyperK√§hler cones. I will show how to deal with these singularities using the theory of symplectic resolutions, and define a superconformal index given a resolution. This index has several interesting limits that we will discuss. The superconformal index’s (lack of) dependence on the choice of regularisation will be discussed.
