If you have a question about this talk, please contact Manjinder Kainth. Majorana fermions are of much interest to many condensed matter physicists for their topological properties and interesting exchange statistics, but how can they be realised in condensed matter systems? In this journal club we shall cover some proposals of how to create and detect Majorana fermions in one dimensional wires. The papers of interest are: Lutchyn, Sau, Das Sarma, PRL 105 (2010) and Oreg, Refael, von Oppen, PRL 105 (2010). This talk is part of the Theoretical Physics Journal Club and Group Meeting series.
