There is still significant debate about the translational value of animal models of cancer because of the inherent differences between mouse and human tumours. Due to these differences I believe there is an opportunity for mathematical modelling to close this gap. In this talk I will review the current evidence for the translatability of animal models to the clinic. I will also talk about the potential differences between mouse and human tumours, including their growth kinetics. This will include a discussion of the properties of mathematical models of tumour growth and anti-cancer treatment effect required to reflect these differences.

This talk is part of the Applied Mathematics Seminar Series series.
