If you have a question about this talk, please contact Diogo Oliveira E Silva. I will discuss the relationship between efficient congruencing and decoupling in the prototypical case of the parabola. In particular, I will sketch the efficient congruencing proof of restriction estimates for the parabola. I will then discuss new bounds for discrete restriction to the curve (x,x^3) which presently lies beyond the scope of efficient congruencing/decoupling. This is joint work with Trevor Wooley.
