The AdS/CFT Correspondence is a little piece of magic that fell out of string theory connecting gauge theories and gravity/string theories. I will provide a light touch introduction to how it emerged from string theory, extract the key elements and then apply them to understanding the origin of mass. Using these techniques we can provide simple models of the origin of the proton mass, composite higgs models and the superconducting instability in high density QCD .
