If you have a question about this talk, please contact Fabian Spill. Multi-resolution problems are a common feature in many fluid dynamics applications from geophysical and aerospace flows to micro and nanofluidics. In many cases, hybrid approaches for solving these problems are based on a decomposition of the solution domain into different “layers” of various fidelity. The “layers” are connected in accordance with some governing constraints which can include boundary conditions and conservation laws. In this talk, I will review recent activities in our group based on the domain decomposition approach for 2 applications: sound generated by aerodynamic flows and continuum/particle simulations at multiple scales.
