The problem of partitioning a graph into few monochromatic cycles, first formulated explicitly in the beginning of the 80s, has lately received a fair amount of attention. This talk is meant to give an introduction to the field. I will present some of the central problems, the ideas that lead to recent advances and a couple of interesting open questions.

This talk is part of the Combinatorics and Probability Seminar series.
