If you have a question about this talk, please contact Prof Ian Kenyon. I will review some of the physics motivations for upgrading the LHC to provide an order of magnitude increase in integrated luminosity. The talk will then look briefly at the LHC machine upgrades to achieve this. The main part of the talk will focus on the required upgrades for the tracking detector. The challenges for the new tracker will be discussed and then the proposed solutions will be reviewed with a focus on the strip tracker. As well as looking at individual components, some of the interesting system issue will be considered. This talk is part of the Particle Physics Seminars series. This talk is included in these lists:
