If you have a question about this talk, please contact Matthaios Doulgerakis. An optical imaging system is under development that will be sensitive to low oxygen levels (hypoxia) and increased blood concentration (angiogenesis), with the primary purpose of diagnosing rheumatoid arthritis at an early stage. Progress on system construction will be discussed, including the incorporation of existing surface capture technology developed here at Birmingham, followed by an outline of how realistic simulation studies are being used to aid decision making in the design process and understand the system limitations.
