Mobile devices with high resolution cameras provide a new platform for personalized information services. However, many state-of-the-art machine learning techniques fail to work well on mobile devices because they are not aware of characteristics of mobile devices and applications, e.g., limited computation power/storage, auxiliary features from multiple sensors etc. This talk will majorly focus on two learning approaches for handling multi-modal data and real time visual objects contour tracking in mobile environments or on mobile devices. In particular, a novel multi-modal learning approach proposed for identification and a new type of contour tracking approach, which is suitable for security video conferencing on mobile phones, will be introduced in the talk.

This talk is part of the Artificial Intelligence and Natural Computation seminars series.
